A few of my friends and I are thinking about buying this land yacht. 1973 Winnebago with a 454 engine. The guys asking 700. We're planning to gut it out and clean it out, and redo the interior with carpet, recaros, and sofas, and home theater in the back. What do you think?
Only slightly obscured seat.
There was a screen for the screen door.
"bear!!!" -Wildred
This was a cabinet. There is a box of wood screws.
Taking that out for sure, sealing the hole, and taking out the bladder underneath.
There was a used condom. Everything will probably be ripped out and redone. And Ammco 300 dollar paint job will be on the list of things.
(Note we are 17, going to put this under non op, and going to place it in a backyard)

Get it and then you must enact this song.

do your parts research before you pull the trigger. I did a Brave a few years ago for someone and finding brake parts for the the old Dodge HD chassis was pretty difficult

I instantly thought this

I wonder how many drugs were created and or consumed in this RV.

Have a mechanic check the frame, body, for rust. Otherwise, why not? It's so huge that everything - wiring, exhaust, powertrain - is out in the open where you can see it and work on it. What fun - I envy you.

Perhaps. Perhaps.

we don't plan to drive it. We plan it to be a private domicile. Aka, parked house.

aha I misread that. A friend of mine has a nice old school bus he spent a bunch of time on. He is a stone mason and master carpenter, as well a s major pimp. It is maybe 300 ft behind his house, cable, tv with captain chair searing, power, wood stove, velour, an a stone deck off the back of it. That is where the party always is

we're going to come back on Wednesday and try to get it started. I don't know any mechanics, but I can ask one that lives near me. If it starts, we'll negotiate the price.

A reason why this is getting gutted. And cleaned thoroughly.

Very wise decision.

Watch for roof leaks. If it's leaking, run away. RV bodies are built like shit, and they rot away in no time when they leak ... Which they do often.

Good luck.

A lot of weather sealant. And some leak testing.

I watched part of it in middle school, that's about it

As "that crazy guy next door," check it well for leaks (roof and sides). Get a water hose and hose it down, wait 15 minutes then check inside for wet or soft spots. If it leaks anywhere AT ALL, run away fast! Take it from a guy thats been chasing three leaks for the last 6 months, they're insidious, can hide anywhere, and can be sheer hell to track down. My bus has three little drips (in a downpour I get a drip every 5 minutes) but I can't figure out their origin. Its driving me crazy! And I can't install my furniture till they're sealed.
Yeah, I'm that guy...."that crazy guy next door."

I think I'm going to check leaks after I clean it out...the headliner/boards are falling apart. It's disgusting in there. But nice RV/Schoolbus/Car Carrier! First time seeing one of these! Did you strengthen the body with square tubing though?

Yes, but if it's already been leaking, the damage to the structure is probably so bad, that it's already FUBARed. I hope it's nor, because I like the idea .... But if it is, don't waste your time and money.

Assuming it doesn't run and/or has no brakes, you'll probably pay more to have it towed than you're buying it for.

Doubled the frame in the rear, added C-channel steel crossmembers, and welded steel supports for rear drop down door. Door is hydraulic activated with cylinders and hoses rated at 4000psi.
